- AM-specific optimization of the organizational structure
In compact workshops we explain and discuss with you the important basics required for optimizing and implementing an AM organization. Building on this, we define the understanding of roles and the company-specific configuration of these roles within the operational structure as well as the assignment of tasks.
- Optimizing the AM processes
As a first step, any AM processes already in use at the company are incorporated. Any weaknesses identified are eliminated during the subsequent optimization, and the interfaces are minimized. Furthermore, existing instruments such as ERP systems (e.g. SAP), status detection systems or BIMs are integrated to produce a process that is as efficient as possible and eliminates the need for duplicate handling of data.
- Strategic Asset Management
Strategic AM is the basis for deriving sustainable maintenance measures for asset groups from overall corporate objectives. In close cooperation with your experts, we conduct a technical, regulatory and economic assessment of possible maintenance scenarios and select the favored maintenance strategy.
- Operative Asset Management
Operative AM fleshes out a selected maintenance strategy to create an action list which is itemized by asset. Technically oriented detail planning is performed based on the operative conditions according to the economic framework and the strategy pursued.
- Process optimization of investment management and controlling
Processes and tools are optimized to strengthen your in-house investment management and the closely associated project controlling. Existing processes are incorporated including their strengths and weaknesses, a target concept is developed and specific measures for improvement are derived.
- Examination of long-term investment and maintenance requirements
We examine the methodological and factual correctness of your current approach and validate the plausibility of the assumptions made by comparing them to usual practice in the sector and assessing their proportionality. Approaches for making improvements are derived and their implementation supervised if necessary. Alternatively or additionally, you can choose a bottom-up approach to enable detailed investment planning based on the current asset condition.
- Quick check of network structure
To prevent any fundamental misinvestments, a brief structural analysis of your network is performed on the basis of planning maps or alternatively using state-of-the-art Web GIS based analysis tools. Historically necessitated network structures and new network requirements, such as e-mobility and water quantity development, are taken into consideration when doing so.
- Value Management study
Value Management studies are used for the purpose of economic and functional optimization of large infrastructure projects. Core of the studies are specific methods, that enhance a creative and structured approach to thinking in terms of functions. Depending on the objectives set, a VM study can significantly reduce costs or increase project benefit for the company.

Stadtwerke Mainz AG: Pumped-storage plant feasibilityThe customer has identified a site for the construction of a pumped storage power station and FMC commissioned a feasibility study in which examined the hydrological, topographical and technical approval conditions, elaborated the technical implementation options and analyzed indicative their cost. Following the determination of the fundamental feasibility and after its approval, FMC designed and inserted in the area, a power plant including all the necessary aspects such as the waterways, power connections etc. For three different equipment sets construction costs were estimated for each one and the preferred option was identified.
- Stadtwerke Gmuend: Strategy for the expansion of renewable energies
Stadtwerke Gmuend: Strategy for the expansion of renewable energiesFMC has formulated a strategy development for expansion of renewable generation for a German municipal utility and determined the potential available investment. In addition, the 2020 achievable goal percentage was derived and investment options presented. Furthermore, the participation of a civil energy cooperative was incorporated in the renewable energy strategy. In the second phase of the project, FMC accompanied the local municipal utility in developing a PV park in his distribution area.

EBL: Investment strategy for renewable energy plantsFMC elaborated various investment options, particularly in the areas of wind and solar (solar thermal, photovoltaic) and hydropower in European countries for a Swiss power company. For this purpose, various investment options were assessed against a technology / market matrix taking into account the specific investment requirements and cost and remuneration structures, the weighting of risks and rewards, and the performance of various economic analysis (Change Cash Flow, Depreciation, capital, ...). As a result, the financial closure of direct investment was developed.

Expansion of business activities in the field of biogas in RomaniaThe customer, an Austrian commercial bank, has a strategic interest to further expand its business activities especially in the field of biogas in Romania. The project aim was to assess the technical potential of biogas in Romania and any strategic partnerships along the value chain to establish and expand. The services FMC provided include the assessment of the technical potential for biogas based on industry data, developing an action plan designed to identify suitable partners / shortlist of partners, preparation of project documents for the acquisition of potential partners / road shows.

Heizkraftwerk Pforzheim GmbH: Strategic DevelopmentThe project aim was to prepare a concept for a future economically sustainable operation of an energy supplier. The company operates a power plant consisting of a coal-fired fluidized bed block, a biomass power plant unit and a gas turbine. The services FMC provided were including the analysis of the market and investment parameters along with their impact on the profitability of the company. In the subsequent detailed analysis solutions were outlined in technical, organizational and contractual terms and their economic impact was estimated. As a result, solutions were provided such as measures to reduce costs and increase revenue, in addition to structural measures in the organizational and corporate area.

Ukraine Lviv: Development of a financial and operational performance improvementThe project aim was to improve the commercial standing of the Lviv municipal utility, provide the conditions for project implementation and ensure that services for retail customers were equitably rendered and of high quality. The services FMC provided were the draw up of a short-term financial and operational performance improvement program to bring about upgrades in key areas of financial and operational management and, in collaboration with the company and the city council, conceptualizes a public service commission (PSC). As a result, FMC verified that the existing tariff structure complied with the tariff clauses in the loan agreement and in the municipal support and guaranteed contract as well as with local tariff law, including the statutory provisions of the national tariff regulator.
